I got a
"JAVA" error message what do I do?
In some browsers, like Internet Explorer 6 (I.E. 6), Java content is
blocked for you and you need to give permission for it to load. There
is a yellow text box in I.E. 6x that tells you that a script has been
blocked. Click the box and click on "allow
blocked content..." and then answer "YES" to the second warning. Or,
set the permission in your preferences. This is also an XP service pack
2 feature.
Also, your firewall or pop up blocker may be set to
not
allow the
script to run. To access our online account you will need to change
those settings, to allow the script to run. But if you are not
interested in using our Online Donation method then just ignore the
script request and hit cancel.
If you continue to have problems please let us know.
Can I
make donations with a credit card online?
Yes,
as of November 19, 2008 we are pleased to announce that we
have changed the
service we have used in the past to take donations online via
credit card to DONATE
NOW !
You can make either a one (1) time donation or you can sign up to
donate an
amount each month. With either method the limit we can receive from an
individual donor is $5,000.00 per year.
I
want to give a little each month, can you auto-debit my credit card?
Yes,
You can make either a one (1) time donation or you can sign up to
donate a
small
amount each month. With either method the limit we can receive from an
individual donor is $5,000.00 per year.
While
we are happy to receive any amount you wish to contribute we ask you to
consider signing up to donate a minimum of $5.00 each month.
That
is just $60.00 per year and with that minimum donation amount you will
receive our newsletter "The Good News Report" (TM) whenever it is
sent out.
There is more detailed information on the DonorTownSquare.com
website and on the second donation page.
Can I
make donations with Google(TM)?
No,
not yet! Hopefully soon though. On November 12, 2008
we applied for the Google(TM) donate service also known as
Google(TM) checkout for political organizations, and following
the
instructions listed on their website we e-mailed
the documents they requested. We are waiting for their
response. As soon as we get a response we will either add their service
or
let you know what they said. If you do not see either
their donation link or information on what they said then we
are
still waiting.
Can I
make donations with Pay Pal(TM)?
No,
not at this time. We have looked into adding this payment method and
they have expanded their service to include non-profits. While they
seem to think this will also work for political customers we
found their service to be lacking too many key requirements
needed for most political committee's and campaigns. Hopefully this
will change in the future. If you would like to see us add a Pay
Pay(TM)
donation button then please let Pay Pal(TM) know you would
like to
see them do a better job reaching out to political customers.
Can
you invoice me for my donation?
Yes,
E-mail us
and we will send you a
Pledge Invoice with a
remittance envelope and you can mail us your donation. This is a much
slower process then either
using a credit card or using our Donation Form - to make donations by
mail. We recommend using the donation form instead, if you are not
comfortable with using you credit card online.
Can I
just mail you my donation?
Yes,
just go to our Donation
Form - to make donations by mail page and print this form and
mail it with your check made payable to Citizens For A Better America ®
P.O. Box 7647
Van Nuys CA 91409-7647
If you are unable to print the form, that is O.K.,
just use it
to verify that your donation meets the standards set by the F.E.C. If
you can check off that you can "confirm that the following statements
are true and accurate: [ ] *Check Here" then
your donation meets these standards. Make your check payable to
Citizens For A Better America ® and mail it to the address listed
above.
Thank you for your donation.
There
are lots of government regulations about donations to political groups,
do I qualify?
Federal Election Law (
FEC.GOV
) requires compliance
with the following statements:
If you
can confirm that the following statements are
true and accurate then you qualify to donate.
- I am a United States citizen or a permanent
resident alien.
- I am making this contribution from my own funds,
and not those of another.
- I am not a federal contractor.
- I am making this contribution on my own personal
credit card and not with a corporate or business credit card.
- I am using my own credit card. It is not a stolen
credit card.
- I am at least 18 years of age.
- I am contributing no more than $5000.00 per
calendar year to all federal funds (for the benefit of candidates
running for federal office) of Citizens For A Better America (R)
(CFABA.ORG).
- I understand that I will need to supply
my "Occupation" and "Employer" information.*
- Since this is a political contribution, I
understand that I will not receive a refund on my credit card donation.
*While we must ask for your "Occupation" and
"Employer" information it will only be published once the annual amount
you have contributed reaches the $200.00 level.
You will be asked these same questions on the first
page, if you use our
online donation service.
It is our goal that donating to Citizens For A Better
America ®
would be as easy and convenient as possible, that is why we have you
sign off that you qualify to donate to our type of committee. This
saves you the time and effort if you do not qualify.
Will my
name show up on some report?
Yes and No.
Yes, if you donate over $200.00 in
any calendar year we are required to list your name and address
as well as your employer and occupation on the report we file. That is
why we ask you for all the
necessary information up front.
No, if you donate under $200.00 in
a calendar year we are not required to list your personal
information and we choose not to. We know that privacy is very
important to most people and that is why we
added our "Privacy Membership" for $199.99. It is for those supporters
who wish to donate the
maximum they can each year and still not show up on any of our public
reports.
Please understand no matter what amount you contribute
we are required to ask you for the information, what changes is what is
actually posted online in the report.
I can
not see the page or I get a 404 page not found error when I click to
donate, what is wrong?
Check your
browser, this is usually a browser issue. Currently our
online donation software requires the use at the minimum either Microsoft
Internet Explorer 6, Netscape
7.x or Mozilla 1x
(Mozilla is an open source browser developed by those who developed the
original Netscape, so if you liked
Netscape we think you will like Mozilla).
It is our continual goal to keep our websites as
browser
friendly as possible and on the rest of our website you should be able
to view it with any browser, but because of security concerns there are
less browsers that can be used with credit card
processing software.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. If
you are in
another browser all you need to do is to swipe the address above, in
the address bar; copy and paste it in one of the browsers that will
work with the software. If you get an error page
using either I.E. or Mozilla then please let me know, and if you find
another browser that works I'd like to know that as well, E-mail
us.
I
use Netscape will I have any problems?
Yes, we have had some reported problems with Netscape.
The
donation pages do not display or are not displayed properly. While in
some versions they appear to work, actually they do not function
properly and the graphics are not displayed right. You may
not be able to use Netscape to make a donation. We have found that
Mozilla (Mozilla
1x)
is a good substitute and it works fine with the donation software.
See also I can not see
the page or I get a 404 page not found error when I click to donate,
what is wrong?
Is it
secure to make my donation online?
Yes. the DonorTownSquare.com website states"
"We use
industry
standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption on all donation pages,
which ensures that your donors credit card cannot be read by hackers as
it travels across the Internet. In addition, we securely encrypt all
credit card information that gets stored in our database for customer
service purposes so no one can access it."
You will
need to use either Microsoft Internet Explorer 6x or Mozilla 1x or
better to use the secure server. (See also, I
can not see the page or I get a 404 page not found
error when I click to donate.)
Both of these browsers show a closed lock when you are
on a
secure page, so be sure to always check for the 'close lock' symbol on
the bottom right hand side.
When you click on
DONATE NOW !
you will notice the lock has changed to closed.
If you do not see a 'close lock' symbol then please STOP, do not go
forward or enter any information and contact us immediately. This means
the browser is not secure.
What if
the lock on the bottom of my browser is not closed?
If the lock is not closed, STOP,
do not go forward or enter any information and contact us immediately.
This means the browser is not secure. E-mail
us and let us know what browser you
are using and what address came up in
the address line. The browser version can usually be found under
the 'Help' menu in 'About'. This will help us keep our site secure and
serve our donors better.
What
information are you going to ask for?
We
will need you to choose how much you wish to donate. We have various
levels and projects to choose from. Our regular membership is $60.00 a
year.
After you choose a donation amount then you will be
asked to
provide us your name address and other
information, including your Occupation and Employer. This information
is required by Federal Regulation. You can look at our mail in
Donation Form - to make
donations by mail
which asks for the same information.
Lastly you
will be asked your payment method. You can choose credit card (Master
Card, Visa or Discover) or if you like you can choose a smaller amount
and make it a recurring charge.
What
will I have to do?
If you like to know what will happen before you start, how many pages
there are and what do they say then here is the information
you are looking for.
-
FIRST PAGE - You will be asked

page asks you to provide us your name address and other
information, including your
"Occupation and Employer". This information is required by Federal
Regulation and you must include this information before you can proceed
further.
You MUST provide information for each box that has
its title field in bold.
One of those asks for an e-mail
address. We will
NOT add your address you provide to our e-mail list unless you check
the
box which says,"Would you like to be added to our e-mail
list?".
Please
understand if you have already received e-mail from us at that address,
leaving this box unchecked will not remove your name from our list. See
our E-mail
Policy
page for information on how to be removed from our e-mail
list.
When
you are finished then check for the 'close lock' symbol and click the
"Confirm Donation"

the page that we ask for it.

your "CVV Number/Security Code" which is usually a 3 digit number found
on the

on the page this is to protect against fraud. You will also need to
check the box that says, "I understand that my card will be charged to
Donor Town Square Inc".
Check for the 'close lock' symbol. Click the
"Process Donation Now" button and your
card will be charged.

-
FIFTH PAGE
- A receipt page will appear and
a receipt will
also be sent to the email address you provided in step 3.
Please, note the name Donor Town Square Inc
will appear
on your credit
card statement not the name Citizens For A Better America ®, so please
do not be confused.
Why
does nothing happen when I click the 'Continue' button?
Usually something did happen but the page may look the
same. When that happens you should see red text at the top of the page
telling what required information is missing. Make
sure you have completed all the required information and then try it
again. If the problem persists please E-mail
us.
