HAVE YOU BEEN LIED TO?™

THE LIE:

Clinton did not tamper with the Jury.

WRONG!

Months ago Senator Robert Byrd cautioned President Clinton not to tamper with the jury.

Does “tampering with the jury”, include offering House Members and Senators every policy change and program that they have been wanting from the President for years? It does especially when that made up of the Senators who are now sitting to hear your case for impeachment. It matters if the ultimate jury is the American people who elect those Senators.

No regular jury has the defendant speak to them about all the things that he can provide them, if only he is left in place to do so. It does not matter that he has lied to them before, they know he’s desperate and he just might keep these promises. Besides, he is offering them so much even if they only get a fraction of it in the end they are better off than they were. Of course, they must let him off if he’s to stay in office so he can fulfill his promises. Then again any defendant who did this with the jury trying him would find himself also charged with jury tampering. Especially, if he did it on national television.

President Clinton was given that kind of access to the jury during his State of the Union Address. Once again he had a choice and he chose to buy off the jury. If you don’t think so, just look at everything he handed out, and everyone who clapped. Why, he even had Senator Strom Thurmond smiling and House Manager Bill McCollum clapping. Now, I’m not saying they bought into the deal but their responses after 44 applause lines did show how tempted by all those goodies they were.

It would have been hard to sit like some and just take notes or to protest by not attending at all. After all, that project that you have been pushing for, for years is now being handed to you on a silver platter with only one string attached. That string, drop this whole impeachment deal.

When the President’s counsel began their presentation on Tuesday, January 19, 1999, Mr. Charles Ruff made a reference to the President’s upcoming speech that very night, the State of the Union address, and he even gave the American people a preview by telling us that the President will tell the American people and the U.S. Senate: “that the state of the union is strong.” This is the same attorney that has repeatedly argued that Mr. Clinton should be left in office to finish out his term because unlike a federal judge, a President’s term is limited and after all what President Clinton did while wrong does not endanger the Republic. While to some that argument may seem valid when you add to it the President’s big giveaway speech this strategy steps way over the line.

The President’s State of the Union Address was a big giveaway both in terms of funding and of policy initiatives. To the Republicans he gave things that he has not suggested before things like a tax break for stay at home moms, an increase in defense spending the first in a decade, a no tolerance drug policy for prisoners, items that would not make Democrats necessarily happy. But, for the Democrats he had enough other things to offer they would not mind these few concessions. For Labor he gave them a minimum wage increase, and for seniors he gave answers to the Social Security and Medicare dilemma, to the Homosexual community he gave inclusion in the Employment Non Discrimination Act and Hate Crimes Prevention Act. In all 44 different applause lines, making everyone happy or at least trying to.

In the end Clinton did tamper with the jury as only he is able to do. Now, its up to the jury, will they allow him to tamper with them and get away with it or will they hold him accountable? Ultimately, it is up to morality and values based Americans to call their Senators today at (202)224-3121 and tell them, “NO MORE JURY TAMPERING, AND BE TRUE TO THE OATH YOU TOOK TO ‘DO IMPARTIAL JUSTICE ACCORDING TO THE CONSTITUTION AND THE LAWS’”.
