Dear Mr. Bauer:

It was good to talk to your secretary Betty Barrett on the phone today. As I had told her, I really appreciated all that you and Family Research Council are doing to get out the truth about China and their nasty policies toward religious folks.

The timing of the arrival of your May 1, 1997 letter was great because just yesterday I was doing research on the internet on MFN and how we would articulate a News Release about our opposition to it. Then last night I received your letter and read it immediately.

I appreciate what you are doing with your campaign and we would like to join with you. I would like to request that we be added as an organization on the bottom of your newspaper ad. We will be beginning to fax out our News Releases (stating our opposition to MFN for China) at the rate of about 1,600 a week starting this Friday and going through the vote in Congress and I would like to be able to referrence your newspaper ad as a signatory.

Please let me know as soon as possible in writing and preferably before Friday, May 16, 1997, as that is when we begin faxing. You can go ahead a fax me a letter to (818)757-XXXX.

Mr. Bauer, once again I do appreciate all the work that you have done and want to encourage you to stay the course and continue the battle. Americans need us to protect our nation and our brothers and sisters in China need our help.
