Robert Colaco, Founder and National Chairman of Citizens For A Better America, announced today that the organization will be holding a Press Conference on Tuesday November 22 to protest the “fast-tracking” of the GATT/WTO treaty which is scheduled to be voted upon by Congress in a lame-duck session called by President Clinton. The Press Conference to be held on Tuesday November 22, will be just one week before the vote in the House of Representatives.

Colaco stated, “that even though CBA held a Protest Rally at the West Los Angeles Federal building Saturday November 19 only 1 media outlet, KNX Newsradio 1070 physically covered and aired the event. CBA notified over 40 news organizations about the event. CBA wanted the American Media, locally and Nationally not furthur damage the media’s credibility. The media’s audience, the general public would be given more amunition to accuse the media of bias if those opposed to GATT/WTO are not heard from.”

Colaco stated, “Citizens For A Better America is a national grassroots independent political committee made up of a majority of conservative Republicans who were overjoyed with the results of the election on November 8 but are disgusted that Newt Gingrich, Bob Dole and many in the Republican leadership will be potentially helping to pass GATT/WTO under the current ‘fast-track’ rules which limits debate to just 90 minutes in the House and 2 hours in the Senate and bars amendments to the legislation. We are also disappointed that Senator Phil Gramm, who recently announced his presidential candidacy, has not announced that he will take a stand against GATT/WTO.”
